My default unhealthy coping technique for any type of stress is to isolate and I know if I don’t want to lose the ground I’ve gained in the past year I need to take action. I imagine that there are a lot of people here in the United States that are contemplating a lot of things right now. Maybe it is the loss of a loved one or a job, economic uncertainty, political landscape or the isolation. So what does that action look like for you?
How will 2020 be defined for you? Will you just say, “Meh”? Or will you chalk it up to a loss because of the 20 pounds you gained, the never-ending batch of Doritos crumbs in your beard and the claim to fame of watching everything on Netflix? I know I can drift back and forth between those two choices, and sometimes do it multiple times a day.
What if 2020 could at least, in some way, be called a win despite the craziness going on around you? I think it can. So grab a cup of coffee and listen to this week’s episode as I was able to make it to the recording studio last week. We avoided talking about conspiracy theories and try to talk about some healthy ways to be mentally resilient while we are staying home.
